Come work with us on the exciting Healthier Place, Healthier Future Trailblazer!

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our small, yet dynamic and influential team to support the Healthier Place, Healthier Future programme.

Food Active is the current delivery partner for the Healthier Place Healthier Future (HPHF) programme in Pennine Lancashire. The HPHF project is one year into a three year programme and  focusses on the access and availability of healthier out of home (OOH) food and drink across the Pennine Lancashire footprint, with a focus on food outlets, including hot food takeaways, cafes, dessert bars and restaurants. The project is working with council elected members to develop strong system leadership; planning departments to restrict unhealthy OOH outlets from opening; OOH businesses to improve the food offer and working with them and partners to develop an incentive package; and communities to create a social movement ‘The Great Big Junk Food Debate’ – driving the change.

The role will involve working with a range of partners across six local authorities in Pennine Lancashire to improve the access and availability of healthier out of home foods.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious person who has project management/ project support experience from within a public health team, local authority, VCS organisation or from the private sector, and who can bring excellent communication and organisation skills to the role.

The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including project coordination, engagement and consultation activities, development of briefing and presentation materials for the purpose of education and engagement, monitoring and reporting.

The role has a primary focus on the social movement and business engagement aspects of the project, starting in pre-determined wards before rolling out across the Pennine Lancashire footprint. However, the role will involve supporting elements of the elected member and planning policy work.
