The Marketing of Junk Food to Children

July 15, 2016 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Free

The Committee on Advertising Practice is consulting on proposals for further restrictions on the advertising to children of food and soft drink products in non-broadcast media. The consultation was launched on 13 May, and is open for 10 weeks – until 22 July.

Food Active, in collaboration with Lancashire County Council, and with the support of the Association for the Study of Obesity (NW) and the Association of Directors of Public Health (NW), are holding an event to assist Food Active to respond to the above consultation. Confirmed speakers include Dr Emma Boyland, Lecturer in Appetite and Obesity at the University of Liverpool, and Dr Mimi Tatler-Golden, Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, UCD School of Medicine and Medical Science, Dublin.

The event will also be an opportunity to consider what can be done locally, looking at policies and practices which can be influenced at a local level and learning from good practice.
