In our latest webinar on 24th June, we will discuss how the Local Authority Declaration on Healthy Weight can be a tool to support local recovery from Covid-19, helping to build healthier and more resilient communities through taking a whole systems approach to healthy weight.
Over the past 12 months, due to the current pandemic, capacity within public health teams across England has been diverted to the emergency response. The ability to consider anything outside Covid-19 has been a challenge and the knock-on effects has meant that work programmes on various public health issues have had to come to a standstill. Healthy weight is no exception, despite the evidence that suggests people living with overweight and obesity may experience greater Covid-19 severity.
As we move into the recovery phase of the pandemic, the need to create local environments that are conducive to healthy weight is more important than ever.
This webinar is being held by Food Active to consider how the Local Authority Declaration on Healthy Weight (HWD) can be reinvigorated as a tool for Covid-19 recovery, including considering the national and local picture in terms of inequalities through a series of presentations.
This webinar is of particular relevance to any local authority in the UK who are currently engaged in the HWD but also those who are interested in finding out more about the HWD and/or local government action to promote healthy weight, more broadly.
