We are delighted to welcome over 100 delegates to Liverpool and hundreds more online this morning, to reflect on 10 years of Food Active, and showcase local best practice on promoting healthy weight.
Held at the beautiful Museum of Liverpool, ’10 Years of Food Active: Reflecting on Local and National Action’ will together a wide range of stakeholders to reflect on how the national landscape on healthy weight policy has changed and to consider opportunities both regionally and nationally to bolster existing policy, as we both mark the 10th anniversary of the Food Active programme and approach the forthcoming General Election.
Chaired by Food Active’s Lead Director of Public Health and Director of Public Health at Liverpool City Council, Professor Matthew Ashton, the conference will also aim to reinforce the importance of local action on promoting healthier weight, in addition to sharing good practice from across the North West.
The conference will kick off this morning from 10:00am, with a jam-packed agenda featuring a fantastic line up of speakers and interesting discussions.
As part of today’s conference, we are launching a number of new reports including:
- Catalysts for change: Reflecting on 10 years of Food Active
- The role of system leadership in a whole systems approach to healthy weight
We will also be presenting the findings from our upcoming joint report with the Obesity Health Alliance ‘Location, location, location: Exploring the impact and implementation of the promotion of high in fat, sugar and salt products by locations legislation in England‘ – which will be published in the coming days.
