We are delighted that Lancashire County Council are the latest local authority to adopt the declaration on healthy weight. As the first two-tier local authority, this is just the start of the process as the council works with lower tier authorities to adopt the declaration at borough level.
Lancashire’s local commitments focus on healthier packed lunches; identifying and supporting those at risk of food poverty; supporting workplaces to increase engagement with staff around physical activity, healthy weight and healthy eating; promoting access to healthier food and drinks in canteens and vending machines, and advocating to reduce access to unhealthy food and drinks; providing opportunities to grow, cook and eat good food; working with schools to achieve ‘walk to school’ recommendations and increasing physical activity for children and young people; and improving communication through partnership and scale up interventions using digital technology across Lancashire to increase opportunity, knowledge and motivation for people to lead healthier lifestyles, move more and eat healthily.
Congratulations to Sakthi, Lee, Paula and the team at Lancashire County Council public health.
