Matthew Philpott

Matthew is Executive Director of public health charity Health Equalities Group (HEG) which includes two core programmes of work, Food Active and Healthy Stadia.

Matthew started his career as an academic researcher, gaining a PhD from University of Warwick in 2001, and going on to complete post-doctoral research in psychology and mental health. For the last 15 years Matthew has worked in a number of public health roles across the public, private and charity sectors, and has significant experience of coordinating projects and delivering work packages for large national and European funded public health programmes. Matthew’s initial position with HEG was programme manager of the European Healthy Stadia network (UEFA’s official partner for health and wellbeing), before taking over as Executive Director of HEG in 2017.
