We were pleased to see the details of the Prevention Green Paper following the publication in the summer, and believe some of the proposals will play an important part in the Government reaching it’s target of halving childhood obesity by 2030, including clearer food labelling to support families to make healthier decisions on the type of food they buy and eat, improving the nutrition and tackling the marketing of commercially available baby food, improving breastfeeding rates and considering extending the sugar tax to sugary milky drinks.
However, we have responded to seven questions within the consultation paper as we believe there are certain areas where the Government should go further, but also finish what was started in the Childhood Obesity Plan Chapters 1 and 2 and finally publish the outcomes of the numerous consultations that have now been and gone – some almost a year ago.
You can read our full response to the consultation below. We look forward to hearing the outcome to the consultation, and to working alongside the Government to help make the proposals in the paper a reality.Food Active official response to the Prevention Green Paper
