31 May 2023 Webinar: The Healthy Weight Declaration – Engaging Partners & The Wider System
Our upcoming lunchtime webinar on Tuesday 27th June will focus on new tools available to support place-based / whole systems approaches to healthier weight. Join us for the launch of Food Active’s NHS Healthy Weight Declaration (HWD) and Schools Pledge for a Healthy and Active Future.
The NHS HWD provides a mechanism for organisations to signal their commitment and demonstrate leadership and a coordinated approach to promote healthier weight, supporting prevention priorities set out within the NHS Long-term Plan
The Schools’ Pledge for a Healthy and Active Future is a set of commitments that can be adopted by both primary and secondary schools, in supporting pupils, staff and community members to eat well and be physically active by providing a school environment which is conducive to healthy choices and behaviours.
Both the NHS HWD and Schools Pledge are designed to support the local authority HWD, having been piloted over the last 2-3 years, generating lots of learning and we are now excited to be in a position to launch these resources at this upcoming webinar.
Chaired by our Director of Research Dr Robin Ireland, we will be joined by colleagues from Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, who became the first trust to adopt the NHS HWD in November 2022, as part of a place-based approach with North Tyneside Council and Northumberland County Council. We will also be joined by St Bartholomew’s C of E Primary School in Leeds, who were the first school to adopt the schools pledge in 2022 during the pilot of the pledge.
To find out more about these resources, make sure you join us on the 27th June and register for your place below.
